If you grew up watching Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin's classic series Bagpuss, or are a younger fan of the "old fat furry catpuss" and his friends, the Bagpuss Backpack will be an ideal way of transporting your important bits and pieces around.Made from soft bright pink and white striped plush material, the backpack is an accurate replica of Emily's favourite cat. Bagpuss measures approximately 34 cm (13 inches) long and has adjustable pink nylon shoulder straps and a loop so he can be hung from a coat peg. His back unzips to reveal a roomy interior, which is fully lined. He has appealing button eyes and nose and soft padded paws. Because of small parts, the Bagpuss Backpack is not recommended for children under three years of age. Any minor splashes can be removed with a damp cloth, as he is sponge clean only. --Alison Drury

Golden Bear
A little trip down memory lane for the grown-ups, this delightfully scraggy toy is quirky, cuddly and adorable. He arrives with a distinct air of the "lived in", with his ragged fur and dopey face, and is sure to become a household favourite, regardless of whether you are familiar with the classic TV series or not.Bagpuss is wonderfully squishy, but the best thing about him is that he looks as if he was made to be dragged along the floor, grubbied up by eager little hands and then cuddled close. And what's more, when you squeeze him under his chin he makes a very loud yawning sound that will tickle tots to bits (even if only because it sounds like a long, drawn out burp!).
Never have pink and yellow stripes been so appealing... --Susan Harrison.

The glitter in Glitter Yawning Bagpuss' pink fur ensures that extra bit of glamour and updates an old British classic. Press Bagpuss' mouth and he yawns realistically. This very soft Bagpuss is sure to be loved by fans of the show and other young children who just love cats. Bagpuss is very squeezable and can be surface cleaned, though he shouldn't be immersed in water. He is 33 cm high (including his tail) and can be easily carried around even by younger children who are attracted by his sparkle.
The sound device in the toy is not replaceable once the battery is exhausted. The manufacturer suggests the average battery life is six months but less if in constant use.
Bagpuss is certainly undergoing a cult revival, and this glamorous glitter cat is a great gift for young and old alike. Suitable for children from 12 months. --Lisa Ramshaw

Golden Bear
Falling squarely into the category of toys for grown-up kids, this set of four Banana Splits beanies will trigger gurgles of nostalgic delight from anyone around the age of 30. Standing around 20 cm high, these stuffed versions of the show's stars, Fleegle (the beagle), Drooper (the lion), Snorky (the woolly elephant) and Bingo (the tombstone-toothed orange gorilla) are made from great quality materials and with loving attention to detail; they look just like their TV counterparts would have done had they not suffered from the washed-out look that blighted late-60s TV. Small parts like the foursome's shades and firemen's helmets may be detached by overeager playing so they're not suitable for under-threes, but then you'd have to be a pretty generous parent not to park these on a high shelf and admire them from a distance. An ideal addition to desks everywhere, but you'd better glue them down... --Rikki Price -
